Aurora

Aurora Aksnes born June 15 1996 in Stavanger and professionally referred to as Aurora occasionally stylized as AURORA is a Norwegian musician and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves was released by Label Decca Records in May 2015 getting great reviews by music journalists and media. She has recorded several high-profile song covers, including Half the World Away (by Oasis) for the Christmas advert. Oasis) for John Lewis' Christmas advert and Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole) that were widely appreciated. It was further recognized from a post by Katy Perry where Perry endorsed the song Runaway. It was her birthday celebration. Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was when she discovered a piano in her loft and being amazed by its sound. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music. It was not for an income or to pursue hobby but for the sake of growing. So she started her own compositions. In addition to Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her mother had told her that her music could assist her in gaining recognition, but also let others see their importance to the world and appreciate the possibilities for her songs, she opted to perform in public. The piano was first played by her when she was just 6 years old and was writing her first song at the age of nine. It took until her 14th birthday when she shared her story with her parents. Aurora was not a goal. As she says, she is a fan of writing songs. According to her, music is the most effective way to convey anything.
